Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster will be rearing to go for Thursday’s match at Rennes.
The Europa League group opener at Roazhon Park will be a hotly contested affair.
However, this isn’t the first time the Englishman or the Hoops have visited the Breton capital.
This is one that the ‘Grand Muralla’ would not rather see again.
Fraser Forster will want to save his blushes against Rennes
If one Celtic fan says Rennes to another then only one thing comes into their mind.
Forster was in between the sticks when Neil Lennon’s men travelled to the north west of France in 2011.
The game evenly poised during the first half with not much going in the way of goal scoring opportunities.
That’s until South Korean international Cha Du Ri decided to make the match a little more interesting.
Cha also helped matters by bringing Forster along for the ride.
In a simple phase of play, Cha touched the ball back to his goalkeeper for a simple kick out to get the team up the park.
However, there was bedlam as there was too much weight on the ball which Forster didn’t see.
A small jog by the Englishman to save their embarassment failed as the ball trickled over the line leaving Cha with a goody smile on his face.
Rennes match gives chance for retribution
The moment still gives a momentarily minute of laughter even to this day among the French faithful.
There are some going to the match on Thursday well in the mind of Forster’s last visit.
However, since the blunder, he has went on make a big money move for Southampton and play for his country.
He is coming back a more experienced keeper and still trying to show Hoops fans that he still has the same ability.
Forster will put on a show if he has to and prove everyone he isn’t afraid of Roazhon Park.
Nevertheless, most fans would rather he didn’t have much to do at all on Thursday.
