8 goals in 9: Neil Lennon thinks Odsonne Edouard still has more to give Celtic

Neil Lennon is looking for more from Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard despite his recent goalscoring form.

The Frenchman is beginning to look like his old self and managed to get onto the scoresheet against Motherwell again today.

That makes it eight goals in his last nine appearances and 16 in total for the season [WhoScored].

However, Lennon reckons he can get even better in the coming weeks and get back to the red hot form that has defined his time at Celtic.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Bhoys boss said: “I think there’s more to come from him. He could have had a hat-trick today.

“His finishing and work-rate can be better but he looks in a better place than he was for the first half of the season for sure and he’s getting the goals his play deserves.”

I actually agree with the manager here. Edouard is getting better but he is not quite at his peak.

His goal today was superb. The touch and awareness he showed was reminiscent of some of his best stuff.

The reality is that the Frenchman won’t be at Celtic for much longer. However, if he can hit a hot streak, it only benefits the club.

First, it could lead to consistent wins in the league, something that is badly needed. Also, if he shines between now and May, his value will only be higher in the summer when cash-rich teams come knocking.

Fingers crossed those hat-tricks start arriving.

In other news, Neil Lennon and Michael Stewart agree on the SFA shambles.
