Ange Postecoglou has named his Celtic team vs Rangers for today’s big Scottish Premiership clash.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Hart, Juranovic, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor, McGregor, O’Riley, Hatate, Abada, Jota, Kyogo.

Substitutes – Siegrist, Jenz, Giakoumakis, Haksabanovic, Mooy, Turnbull, Maeda, Forrest, Ralston.

As expected, the manager has made major changes to the line-up that faced Ross County in the Premier Sports Cup mid-week. In fact, I count nine in total with only Callum McGregor and Liel Abada keeping their spots in the team.

The big call is in attack, where the manager has opted for Abada over Daizen Maeda. It was the big debate before today’s team news, and Postecoglou has gone for the direct goal threat of the Israeli international. Maeda is available to come into the game from the bench if needed.

It’s a tried and trusted team. All of today’s starters have experience of playing in a derby so hopefully they can show up well against our rivals.

Broadcast Details

Today’s match is live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event in the UK & Ireland.

As you can imagine, many other channels across the world are carrying the fixture. In Australia it’s on beIN Sports 2 while Americans can watch via the CBS Sports Network. A full list of global channels can be found on Live Soccer TV.

BBC Radio Scotland will be providing live audio commentary.

Instant reaction to Celtic team vs Rangers

I have to say I am surprised that Postecoglou has opted for Abada over Maeda. It’s not something I was expecting. However, I am not disappointed either. The reality is that the squad is so strong at the moment that there are definitely more than a few spots up for grabs on any given week.

Clearly, Abada has impressed in training over the last seven days, while his hat-trick against Dundee United in the 9-0 win at Tannadice hasn’t hurt. Starting the Israeli sends a message we are going out there to play the game on our terms.

The rest of the eleven is about as expected given the form of the team over the last few weeks.

Overall, it’s a team full of attacking threat that is capable of doing the job today. With a quality bench too, there’s plenty to look forward to this afternoon.
