Celtic’s last league visit to Easter Road to play Hibernian was an unmitigated disaster. Then manager Brendan Rodgers picked an experimental team, which saw Emilio Izaguirre play as a wing back.
It was no surprise to see the Hoops concede a goal in the first minute of the game, and the match ended with Hibs comfortably winning 2-0.
The teams are due to meet again at Easter Road this Sunday. However, the circumstances are very different. For a start, then Hibs manager Neil Lennon is now interim manger of Celtic.
Also, a win for the Hoops could see them crowned champions for the eighth season in a row, so the game is far bigger than a run-of-the-mill league game, which the game in December was.
Won’t make same changes
Neil Lennon won’t make the same changes Rodgers did, he will pick his strongest team available. He will also make sure to pick the players in the right position, with no repeat of the Izaguirre mistake.
Lennon has already shown he knows how to win at Easter Road as interim Celtic boss. The Hoops cruised to a 2-0 win in the Scottish Cup quarter-final in March.
Should Celtic adapt the same attitude that they did back in their last visit to Easter Road, the title could be clinched on Sunday. A repeat of Rodgers’ errors though, could mean a long day lies ahead.
