At the moment there are doubts about Odsonne Edouard’s participation in the Scottish Cup Final. Celtic interim manager Neil Lennon has disclosed that the player has a hamstring problem.
As a result, he will miss the last league game of the season against Hearts on Sunday. Should Edouard miss the cup final it would be a real blow for the Hoops.
Not easy to replace
He is the club’s top scorer with 21 goals this season. That is not easy to replace. Should Edouard miss the cup final, there is only one logical replacement.
That replacement is Scott Sinclair.
That might sound odd at first. After all, Sinclair has been out of the side in recent weeks. However, he is one of the few natural goalscorers in the Hoops side with 17 goals this season.
Superb goalscoring record
That is a superb record for a player who is not a natural striker. He is also a big game player. Even in this season, which has been perhaps is poorest so far, he has had the knack of scoring important goals.
Perhaps Sinclair wouldn’t play as a striker in the broadest sense of the word against Hearts. He could act as a focal point up-front, perhaps supported by James Forrest and Tom Rogic.
Sinclair has played as a striker before, so although it is not ideal, he is capable of doing the job.
