Some Celtic supporters didn’t appreciate the post-match interview from Neil Lennon on Sunday, after he suggested that his team didn’t deserve to lose against Rangers at Celtic Park.
Steven Gerrard’s team emerged as 2-1 victors on the afternoon, which in many’s eyes was more than a fair result based on the performances of the two teams across the 90 minutes.
Much in the manner of the recent League Cup final, today’s visitors were well on top for large portions of the match.
They were often first to second balls and pressed the Hoops well enough to frustrate our players in possession.
The Bhoys have played far better this season against better opposition, so it was incredibly frustrating to see the players not perform in one of our most important games of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Lennon said: “I’m obviously very disappointed to lose the game. I didn’t think we deserved to lose it. I didn’t think maybe we deserved to win it either.
“The second goal we conceded was really poor from our point of view. It was a free header from a set-play. We looked dangerous from our own set plays.
“In the throes of the game, we were a little bit tentative at times, a little bit physically off it.”

One of the obvious conclusions from his interview is that he’s preferring to play down the loss in public, while privately letting his players know exactly what he thought of it all.
However, some supporters didn’t appreciate the comments, feeling that Lennon’s view of the way things played out is entirely wrong.
These fans took to Twitter after today to share their thoughts on the comments…
Looks like Lennon never turned up either, clueless today 😞

We deserved to lose by more

Absolute nonsense Lenny. We never deserved anything from that game. Zero passion from them, twice now. Think some already had their bags packed for Dubai.

Are you kidding me Neil for most of the game celtic were posted missing we were lucky we only lost 2 – 1 you need to sort the players out fed up with us turning up to games thinking we have already won, if the players dont want to play for the shirt instead of money get rid

Aye we did. If he believes we payed well enough he needs to go

He has that wrong. If we had drawn that game it would have been lucky. We’re not at the races for the 2nd old firm in a row. Rangers for me are currently a better team.

Deluded. Scary if he actually believes that
