Some Celtic fans loved Kristoffer Ajer's display v Aberdeen
Celtic fans enjoyed the performance of Kristoffer Ajer against Aberdeen on Saturday, after the defender helped Neil Lennon’s team to a 2-1 victory at home in the Scottish Premiership.
The weekend fixture always had the potential to be something of a banana skin for the Hoops, with Aberdeen one of the more difficult and physical outfits in the top-flight.
With the game schedule running thick and fast, the festive season upon us and a giant derby looming, the players easily could have taken their eye off the ball.
Yet despite being wasteful in front of goal again, Lennon’s Bhoys found a way to win, as they have done for the vast majority of his second spell as boss at Celtic Park.
Ajer was one of the stand-out players on the pitch and one of the most involved throughout, despite not quite covering himself in glory when Sam Cosgrove equalised.
It was his surging run into midfield that opened up play, to allow Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard to combine for our second and winning goal.
A later tackle from the Norwegian would lead to Cosgrove diving in on him and being sent off.
Still just 21, he continues to learn his trade as a centre-back but at Celtic has already formed a formidable partnership with Christopher Jullien.
He’s undoubtedly going to be a massive player for us in the second half of the season.
These fans took to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts on his display…
Ajer makes amends for his defending at the Aberdeen goal with a run that took out half the their team to set up the goal. Beauty. Top skill from Christie (in his proper central position) and supercool finish from French Eddy. Team now much better positionally. #CELABE #CELTIC

Jullien and Ajer both class today. What a defensive pairing

Thoughts on the game: Best I’ve seen Ajer play in months. Boli looked good too. We need to stop playing Forrest out left and Christie out right, it’s killing us. Griffiths is finished at Celtic, we need serious competition for Edouard ASAP.

Ajer for Edouard's goal was just amazing yet again, he's so good.

Big Ajer was brilliant today, Bolingoli on the other hand 🤭

Thought #ajer was outstanding today. Could have been stronger at the goal, apart from that he didn’t put a foot wrong.

We really should have more goals from when big Ajer runs into midfield like that. He opens up the play so much by players being drawn to him. I thought he was MoTM today. 🍀🍀
