Celtic fans enjoyed the performance of Kristoffer Ajer against Aberdeen on Saturday, after the defender helped Neil Lennon’s team to a 2-1 victory at home in the Scottish Premiership.

The weekend fixture always had the potential to be something of a banana skin for the Hoops, with Aberdeen one of the more difficult and physical outfits in the top-flight.

With the game schedule running thick and fast, the festive season upon us and a giant derby looming, the players easily could have taken their eye off the ball.

Yet despite being wasteful in front of goal again, Lennon’s Bhoys found a way to win, as they have done for the vast majority of his second spell as boss at Celtic Park.

Ajer was one of the stand-out players on the pitch and one of the most involved throughout, despite not quite covering himself in glory when Sam Cosgrove equalised.

It was his surging run into midfield that opened up play, to allow Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard to combine for our second and winning goal.

A later tackle from the Norwegian would lead to Cosgrove diving in on him and being sent off.

Still just 21, he continues to learn his trade as a centre-back but at Celtic has already formed a formidable partnership with Christopher Jullien.

He’s undoubtedly going to be a massive player for us in the second half of the season.
