Neil Lennon has named his Celtic team for today’s match against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, as per the official club Twitter account.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Forster: Frimpong, Julien, Ajer, Bolingoli; Brown, McGregor, Rogic, Forrest, Elyounoussi; Edouard

Substitutes – Gordon, Elhamed, Bauer, Hayes, Bitton, Sinclair, Bayo

Today is a hugely important encounter given how tight things are at the top of the table right now. Defeat or a draw would open the door for Rangers to move into first position later this afternoon against Motherwell.

No surprise to see the manager name such a strong team.

The headline news is Jeremie Frimpong coming back into the side after missing Thursday’s night match due to not being registered for the Europa League.

The match is a massive test for the teenager, with Aberdeen representing a much stiffer challenge than Ross County or Partick Thistle.

Tom Rogic also comes into the team in place of the suspended Ryan Christie.

There’s no rotation in the team otherwise, with Lennon going for a similar selection philosophy as the Livingston match post-Cluj.

Aberdeen have had a mixed start to the season, but coming off a 3-0 win against ‘Well last time out will be eager to build momentum in today’s big TV match.

However, we should have confidence heading into the encounter, even considering the energy-sapping performance against Lazio.

Celtic have won eight of the last ten encounters against the Dons in all competitions. The last two games between the two sides ended in 3-0 wins for the Hoops.

Some fans are pleased with Lennon’s selection, feeling the decision to start Frimpong is particularly bold.
