Adrian Durham calls Celtic captain Scott Brown embarassing
TalkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham will upset some Celtic fans following his review of Scott Brown’s celebration.
The Englishman branded the Celtic captain ’embarrassing’ following his last gasp winner at Rugby Park.
Co-presenter Matt Holland appeared to back the veteran midfielder to his colleague’s dismay.
However, this isn’t the first time Durham has rubbed Hoops fans up the wrong way.
Adrian Durham believes in a quieter approach to last minute winners
On Monday night’s TalkSPORT Drive show, the broadcaster and journalist went after Brown’s celebration.
The captain ran to the crowd following the goal and fans joined the players on the pitch jubilantly.
Durham said: “As a leader, as someone who sets the tone and is very well respected at that football club, what Scott Brown needs to do instead of marauding off and beating his chest telling the fans how brilliant he is, he should turn around, put his arms by his side, walk to the centre circle and finish the game.”
Holland accused Durham of wanting to take the joy away of celebrating last minute winners in football.
However, the 49-year-old responded believing that in context, the celebration shouldn’t have happened because of Thursday’s defeat against Valencia.
Durham said: “I think to over celebrate a scrappy deflected winner against Kilmarnock in such a manner is embarrassing a few days after that performance in Europe. It’s Celtic all over, it’s classic Celtic. What Scott Brown did, it smells of Celtic.”
For someone who doesn’t rate Scottish football, he appears to comment on it a lot.
Not the first time presenter slates Celtic
Durham and his opinion on Celtic shouldn’t come as a surprise to regular listeners of his.
In 2013, he took a swipe at not only the Hoops but the Scottish top flight in general calling both ‘a joke’.
He also believes The Bhoys will never be bigger than Rangers but called both clubs as big as each other.
Even as recent as last summer, the presenter floated the idea of Brendan Rodgers leaving Glasgow due to going out of the Champions League to AEK Athens.
Celtic clearly irk the TalkSPORT presenter for reasons which he will only know himself.
However, one thing is for sure, football fans around the world know the legacy of Celtic and Scott Brown is contributing more to British football than Adrian Durham ever will.
