Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has guaranteed that any new signings will develop to their full potential on his watch at the club.

The Bhoys signed up Osaze Urhoghide yesterday, having already brought midfielder Liam Shaw and youngster Joey Dawson to the club.

Postecoglou isn’t just bringing players to the club based on their ability, but their personality and desire to achieve at Celtic.

In a new interview with the club’s media team, the one thing he guaranteed was that all of them will fulfil their potential.

Speaking to the official website, the 55-year-old said: “Sometimes we fall in the trap of just signing footballers. We’re signing people and how they are as a person is important to me. What their own feelings are about the club is important.

“Celtic is a club with great traditions and history but it’s also a club of great standing and high values and I won’t let anyone use this club as a vehicle for individual purposes.

“They need to understand there’s a responsibility when you come here and you can create and experience some fantastic things here. I want people to come to Celtic because they want to play for this football club, not because of individual ambitions to do something else.

“What I’ll guarantee them is they’ll develop to their full potential here.”

These are great messages to be communicating to the support. It’s the kind of elite standards we’ve been crying out for at the club. I get that they are just words at the moment. But does anyone believe this guy doesn’t have full belief in his convictions?

Everything we know about him so far is that he’s a man of his word. If he’s publicly communicating this sort of stuff, expect the same message to be going to players within the squad, both new and old.

We have a leader here, not a yes man.
