Celtic right-back Anthony Ralston still has a future at the club.

That should be clear for all to see, despite the arrival of Jeremy Toljan from Borussia Dortmund.

Toljan’s move to Parkhead means that there are now four right-backs at Celtic Park.

Ralston, Toljan, Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa make up the quartet.

There is a good chance that Ralston outlasts the rest at the club though.

For a start, Toljan’s transfer is only a loan deal.

There is no guarantee that he will still be a Celtic player next season no matter how well he performs this season.

Perhaps Lustig might get another one year deal at the club.

But there is little to no chance of a bit-part player like Gamboa staying at the club.

It is obvious that Brendan Rodgers likes Ralston as a player.

It should be remembered he played the youngster against PSG in the Champions League last season.

Rodgers wouldn’t have thrown the player into a game like that if he didn’t think he could handle it.

Ralston signed a contract until 2022 last season, he does seem like the right-back of the Celtic future.

If he doesn’t play much for the rest of the season Ralston shouldn’t get frustrated.

It seems highly likely that the opportunities will be there for him to shine from next season onward.
