Scotland and Sheffield Wednesday winger Barry Bannan has been full of praise for his former Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal.
It was reported recently that Carvalhal was interested in becoming the next Celtic manager. Bannan believes that his former boss would thrive at Celtic Park.
“He’s big on watching the opposition and making sure his players all know what they’re going to come up against in any particular game” Bannan said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
“Trust me, he’d love it”
“You always knew what to expect from the opposition and what dangers they were going to pose you. People talk about the intensity of Glasgow if you’re at Rangers or Celtic but, trust me, he’d love it.”
Carvalhal had his best success at Wednesday, reaching the play-off final on two occasions.
Failed in last job
His last managerial appointment won’t inspire much confidence, as he left Swansea after failing to keep them in the Premier League.
Despite all that, Bannan seems to be a fan. Carvalhal might not have done enough to convince the Celtic board though.
You would imagine that they would be looking to a manager who has been successful in the Premier League, like former boss Brendan Rodgers.
The fans may well see Carvalhal as a step-down from Rodgers. Only time will tell on that front, but it would be a shock if Carvalhal got the Celtic manager’s job.
