Celtic have received a massive boost ahead of next Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final. The Daily Record has revealed that the duo of Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest have returned to first-team training.

Both players were in a battle to be fit for the game. Edouard reportedly suffered an injury in the recent 2-0 defeat to Rangers, a game which Forrest missed.

But now it seems that both players should be fit. That is a big help as the Hoops aim to win their third domestic treble in a row.

It would have been a huge blow to Celtic’s treble hopes if neither player had been available for the Hampden showdown.

Forrest was deservedly named as Scotland’s player of the year. He has been key to the Hoops this season with plenty of goals and assists.

Only match-fit striker

Meanwhile, Edouard is not only the top scorer with 21 goals this season. However, currently he is the only match-fit recognised striker at the club.

It will be interesting to see if either player is involved in Sunday’s league game against Hearts. Perhaps it might be a good idea to give each player a run out in the second-half of the game.

That could be used to ascertain just how fit the players are. However, it might well be better just to rest the duo until the cup final. That is the much more important game, and one which is worth taking a risk over.
