Celtic might be in a very busy run of fixtures at the moment, but that is a good thing according to Callum McGregor, STV reports.

It seems to be non-stop football for Celtic at the moment. Already since the winter break the team have played 10 games, and the Hoops face at least another seven games before the next international break, with perhaps two more should the team progress in the Europa League.

That could dampen down the enthusiasm of some players, but that is not the case for Callum McGregor. The Celtic midfielder can’t wait for the next game to arrive, as the Hoops are in an excellent run of form.

“It’s thick and fast”

“It’s thick and fast, the games seem to be coming round all the time but that’s what you want when you’re in a good run of form” McGregor said, as quoted by STV.

Celtic are indeed in a very good run of form, having won nine and drawn one of the 1o games that have been played after the winter break.

The Hoops are next in action on Sunday against Kilmarnock in a vital league game that comes only three days after the Europa League fixture vs Copenhagen. You would expect McGregor to start as he is virtually omnipresent in the Celtic side.

Played an incredible amount of football this season

If ever there was a player who could complain about featuring in too many matches its McGregor. It should not be forgotten that in December the BBC reported that he topped the list for minutes played for club and country in world football this season.

However, the fact that he can’t wait for the Hoops to be back in action says it all about the player’s attitude. It will help that the team is playing well, but that shouldn’t take away from how keen McGregor seems to be about playing in as many games as possible.

Just how good has Callum McGregor been for Celtic this season? Surely he is the next Hoops captain? Share your thoughts below with a comment in our new discussion forum…
