Carl Starfelt has shared what he and his Celtic team-mates got up to in the aftermath of their League Cup final win.

The Swede was part of the side that beat Rangers 2-1 at Hampden, with Kyogo Furuhashi grabbing both goals.

Celtic fans inside the National Stadium got to party with their victorious heroes at the time, while others in all corners of the globe held celebrations.

Speaking to the Celtic View Podcast (27:30 onwards), Starfelt explained what the Hoops stars got up to in the hours after the match.

“First, [we celebrated] with the fans in the stadium,” he said. “It was nice to share that moment with them.

“Then we went back to Celtic Park. Some of the fans were there as well. Ange was speaking a bit and also the captain was speaking.

“After that, we had a dinner in Celtic Park with our families which was really nice.

“So we got to celebrate with the fans and with our families. Then we also went out and did some celebrating just with the team.

“It was a really good day. A day I think we will look back on hopefully for the rest of our lives.”

It’s great to hear that the players got to properly enjoy themselves on Sunday night. They’d certainly earned it.

Given the whole ‘we never stop’ ethic Postecoglou has brought in, you may have had the impression that the team would have had their eyes on the next challenge in the hours after the game.

But celebrating is a crucial part of sport. And Postecoglou and the players seem to have nailed that.

Besides, we doubt any players would’ve been getting in at 5am on Monday morning. Leave that to the supporters.

The focus is on our next challenge now. That comes against St. Mirren on Sunday.

In other news, Celtic will likely have to see off Rangers again to win the Scottish Cup this season
