Celtic boss Neil Lennon has paid tribute to two of the Hoops’ most important players following the 2-1 Champions League qualifying win over Sarajevo.
Lennon was particularly pleased with the performances of Callum McGregor and Scott Brown. McGregor’s goal won the game for the Hoops. Brown was at his combative best in the middle of the park.
“Callum came up with a brilliant goal to win the game” Lennon said, as reported by the Evening Times.
“I’m absolutely delighted”
“He was outstanding again along with Scott Brown in midfield. I’m absolutely delighted with what the players are giving me at the minute.”
McGregor and Brown were at the heart of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side. It doesn’t look like that will be changing under Neil Lennon.
Manager will be pleased midfielder scored
Lennon will be pleased that McGregor found the back of the net in the game. Even though he has been an immense player for the Hoops recently, McGregor doesn’t always score enough goals.
He should be looking for double figures each season. He is off to a good start on that front. As for Brown, Lennon will be pleased that the player kept his calm in the face of some tough challenges from Sarajevo.
The Hoops return to action in the Champions League next week, taking on Nomme Kalju. There is no doubt that McGregor and Lennon will be key to the Hoops’ success in that tie.
