Celtic centre-back Carl Starfelt has provided a promising Instagram update stating he’ll be “back soon” as he prepares to return from a hamstring injury.

Starfelt has already received a scan on the injury he picked up against Livingston on Saturday. The big Swede had to limp off midway through the second-half, with many concerned over the extent to which he would be out for.

The Sweden national team yesterday announced their World Cup qualifying squad for the November camp. Starfelt wasn’t involved as he continues his recovery. However, he’s since taken to Instagram to state that he’ll be “back soon” in a promising message:

Starfelt has been a rock at the heart of the Celtic defence in recent weeks alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers. Together, the pair have managed to put the bandage on what had previously been a leaky Celtic backline.

The player has also had to overcome adversity after previously being deemed not good enough during his early days in Glasgow.

Now, however, many will just be wanting him back as soon as possible.

Carl Starfelt has become a main-event player at Celtic Park

His loss will be felt badly tomorrow night when Celtic head to Ferencvaros. It’s another must-win game if we’re to see through qualification to the last-32. Another 3 points will certainly secure Europa Conference League football too.

Doing that without Starfelt reduces our chances. Yes, Stephen Welsh is a more than capable deputy and he appears ready for another shot at the big time at Celtic Park.

However, we’ll still be without the partnership we’ve been trying to build over the last couple of months.

At the very least, it’s promising that Starfelt believes he’ll be back soon. Whilst it can be a touch naive to think of this update too literally, it hopefully means he’s had a positive result when it comes to his scan.

Celtic have a hectic period of games coming up after the November internationals. All of which will see us tested to the limit with a strong need for squad rotation. Having Starfelt back for those is imperative.

Hopefully, we get a more definitive update from Ange Postecoglou later today.
