Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou expects James Forrest and Mikey Johnston to be available for action after the October international break.

The Hoops have gone to the well often this season with Liel Abada on the right. Meanwhile, Jota has nobody challenging him for his spot on the left flank. This is due to the fact that both Forrest and Johnston are both currently sidelined.

Celtic have been rocked by injuries over the last month, with several key players sidelined and results on a decline because of it.

However, Postecoglou has provided a positive update on both as they’re both expected to be available for selection after the internationals in two weeks.

As quoted by the National, Postecoglou said: “(James) Forrest, Mikey Johnston will come back to help us – we’re hoping post international break.”

Forrest hasn’t played for the Hoops since August’s 3-2 Premier Sports Cup win over Hearts. Johnston, meanwhile, came back from injury against Livingston after being out since pre-season, but was instantly sidelined before the next match against Raith Rovers.

Celtic just need as many bodies as they can get back available

Celtic at this stage quite simply need bodies in the door. There isn’t enough quality available to make up a solid matchday squad. We saw that today against Dundee United in our 1-1 stalemate.

However, both of these men will be vital for the cause when they return and get themselves up to full fitness.

Both will be filling a key place in the squad when they come back. Celtic only have one option for either flank at the moment. That’s had a major effect on the manager’s ability to mix things up for the Hoops when things aren’t going our way.

Of course, Forrest’s return is likely the more important of the two. Celtic fans know what James is all about when he’s on his game. His importance to the cause cannot be underestimated and provides us with another genuine goal threat.

As for Mikey, he’s still to win over the Celtic support. The truth is Parkhead supporters simply aren’t overly certain of what we get from him on a consistent basis.

But the first priority for both men is returning to action and helping to get our season back on track. Thankfully, it appears they’re on their way.
