Celtic are in talks to sign striker Lyle Taylor – according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.
Downie broke the news of the club’s apparent interest in the 30-year-old, who recently left Charlton at the end of his contract.
The journalist tweeted: “Celtic are in talks with striker Lyle Taylor, who is a free agent after leaving Charlton.”

Celtic are in talks with striker Lyle Taylor, who is a free agent after leaving Charlton.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon this afternoon told @SkySportsNews he’s holding talks with Steven Fletcher plus a couple more strikers.
SSN can reveal one of those is Taylor #Celtic— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) August 6, 2020
As we know, Celtic transfer chat travels fast and the club’s supporters have already had their say on the Taylor chat.
And if we’re honest, the Montserrat frontman doesn’t seem to be coming out of it too well.
Lyle Taylor? Someone at Celtic is full scale trolling me

Lyle Taylor isn’t someone I’ve heard of that much, but that’s not always a bad thing. However when I’ve heard of the others we’ve been linked with, Lyle Taylor isn’t who I’d be hoping we got.

The thought of Lyle Taylor at Celtic 🤢
Plainly average footballer and a deeply unpleasant person to boot.
Yer alright.

Why has Taylor got a frosty reception?
So it doesn’t seem like too many Celtic fans are keen on the prospect of signing Taylor – judging by those tweets anyway.

Join the forum now >>The Charlton man struck 11 goals in 22 Championship games last season, while he managed 22 in 44 in League One the previous campaign.
But the fact he is 30 and a free agent won’t convince too many Hoops fans that he’s the man to offer us more firepower up top.
The striker’s controversial political views aren’t likely to endear himself to the Celtic support either.
Don’t care what anyone thinks of me. I won’t be voting for someone to take more of the money I work for away from me. And guess what… NO ONE is gonna change my mind. Love you all. Nighttttttt 👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of the Taylor rumours. He is just one of a number of names the club have been linked with in the past fortnight.
From Ivan Toney to Albian Ajeti and even Steven Fletcher, we’ve been credited with an interest in a fair few strikers.
Perhaps the most worrying thing is that all of those players play the game in a different way.
Just what are we looking for in the striking department this summer? And will we get it?
