Now that Neil Lennon has been confirmed as Celtic’s new manager it is imperative that everyone gets behind him.
The Northern Irishman may not have been many people’s first choice but the fact is that he’s now in charge and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. We’re approaching a massive year for the club and we need everyone to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

When Lennon was in charge between 2010 and 2014 fans would often cite the phrase “We are all Neil Lennon”. It may have been a bit cheesey in retrospect but that is the kind of unity we should strive for this time too.
Lennon has proven himself to be a capable Celtic manager in the past. He’s won four league titles and three Scottish Cups and helped us achieve the feat of the treble treble this season.

Lennon knows the demands of the Celtic support so he won’t be going into the job cold. He is also well aware of the challenges the start of the season poses for the club. The 47-year-old has a strong record of making it through the Champions League qualifiers and he may be the man best set to take us through next season.

He must be backed
It is equally important that Lennon is given substantial backing in the transfer market this summer. He must be allowed to build his own team to take us forward to nine-in-a-row.
Lawwell commented on trusting Lennon’s “eye for a player” when he spoke after offering him the job last weekend. It is now time for the Celtic board to back up that statement by giving the Northern Irishman what he wants and when he wants it.
