Celtic fans will be hoping that a prediction made by club legend Stiliyan Petrov doesn’t come true. The former Hoops midfielder thinks that a club could make a bid for Kieran Tierney as early as this summer.
“I don’t know if it will be this summer or next but I do think at some point Celtic’s resolve will be tested” he told the Daily Record.
“You have to take it”
“And if a huge offer comes in the reality is you have to take it. It will take big money to get him. I don’t know how much but it will be no problem for a Man United or whatever.”
Petrov’s comments are correct in all honesty. Should a bid of around £30 million came in Celtic would have to accept it.
Major player in 10 in a row bid
However, fans will be hoping that no bids come in for the player this summer, or indeed the next. Tierney will be a major player for Celtic in their bid to win 10 titles in a row.
Should Tierney be sold in the summer or next, the chances of reaching that landmark would reduce dramatically. That is how important a player he is to the club.
There would also be a backlash against the board from the support if any bid for Tierney was accepted, as fans don’t take kindly to local heroes being sold.
It would be best for all concerned at Celtic if no bids come in for Tierney this summer. That might not be a realistic situation though.
