Seven domestic trophies in a row, including two domestic trebles, are unprecedented in Scottish football. The 69 game unbeaten run is almost taken for granted these days, but it really was an incredible achievement.
Now the Hoops stand on the verge of another record. A win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup will be their 24th domestic cup victory in a row, beating the previous record of 23 set by Walter Smith’s Rangers.
Winning 23 cup ties in a row really is significant. The fact that the team can dig out victories with elimination on the line is all about will to win.
Brendan Rodgers wasn’t aware of the chance to create history but paid tribute to his players.

He told the Daily Record: “We didn’t know about this possibility until last week but it’s a consequence of the work and consistency of the team.”
One question that has to be asked though – what happens when Celtic finally lose a domestic cup tie?
Rodgers and his players would no doubt regard the loss as a blip, and worth brushing off. Sure it would hurt, but they would be confident of bouncing back.
The fans don’t want to even contemplate a domestic defeat though, and it would give them extra satisfaction to break a record set by Rangers.
