Celtic look like they are going to sign David Turnbull after all. The club looked destined to miss out on the 19-year-old Motherwell man as he headed down to Norwich City but a late twist means that he will likely be staying in Scotland.
The Daily Record report that the teenager has had a change of heart after realising that the Celtic deal is the best one for him from a football perspective. Talks are said to have re-opened between Celtic and Turnbull’s agent with a deal likely to be finalised in the coming days.
Celtic had previously written off a deal for Turnbull after a strongly worded statement criticised his representatives. Now, after weeks of protracted negotiations, it looks like they are going to get their man.
Never say never
There’s an old saying about it never being over until the fat lady sings. That phrase is pretty fitting when it comes to David Turnbull and Celtic. The transfer saga has rumbled on for weeks and weeks with numerous twists and turns.
Most Celtic fans won’t believe the deal is completed until Turnbull is standing at Celtic Park with a Hoops shirt. However, it does seem like the deal is nearing completion and it would be a real coup for the club.
The 15 goal midfielder was never going to determine our season but he will prove to be a huge addition if he joins. Hopefully he’s the first of many to join this summer.
