Celtic are back this weekend, to the joy of absolutely everyone of a green and white persuasion.
Neil Lennon takes his ten-in-a-row trophy winners across the city to Firhill for the Scottish Cup fourth round clash against Partick Thistle.
It’s a pretty intriguing tie and it seems to have caught the imagination of the Hoops support who will flock to the West End of the city to see their team in action.
The Celtic faithful pack pretty much any away venue they travel to. However, some fans may be surprised to hear just how many supporters we are taking to Thistle this weekend, according to a report.
Celtic fans to take over Firhill
The Daily Record reckon that Lennon’s men will be backed by 8000+ supporters as the Hoops fans get set to take over the Championship strugglers’ ground.
Given that Firhill only holds just short of 11,000 (stadiumdb.com) that would mean that around 80% of the stadium would be packed by Hoops fans.
We can neither confirm nor deny the reports, only pass on the information we have heard. Such a number wouldn’t be totally surprising but it would be a big increase on our normal allocation at the stadium.
In the past, our fans have been housed in just the Jackie Husband stand although you wouldn’t be surprised if Thistle had given us some extra seats this time round, given their lack of big fixtures over the past couple of seasons.
Whatever happens, that and the intriguing 5:30 kick-off time should make this a pretty special evening.
Celtic will soon be back, and doesn’t that just make you smile?
