If Celtic are looking for a sign in how to overcome a poor recent league record at Easter Road, then a pointer was given by the Celtic Women’s side on Friday night.

Fran Alonso’s side travelled to Edinburgh to take on Hibernian, and steam rolled their way to an impressive 6-2 victory.

Second good result in a week for the Women’s team

The player of the match was probably Anita, who helped herself to two goals. It is the second good result for the women’s team in less than a week, coming hot on the heels of their win over Rangers in the Glasgow derby last week.

The game was shown live on the BBC Alba channel, so all of Scotland would have got the opportunity to see how well that the women’s team are currently playing.

The women’s season has not been going for long, but Celtic have made a good start, and have won four of their first five games of the season.

Celtic currently sit top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 with 12 points, but Glasgow City can take over at the top as they have the same number of points, but have a game in hand.

Just like the men’s side, the women’s team now have an international break, which probably isn’t the best idea, and are not back in action until December.

Still, it is good to see that the women’s team have started the season off so well. It is just a pity that as with their male counterparts, there are no fans that can watch the team.

One wonders if Neil Lennon will be in touch with Fran Alonso for pointers on how to defeat Hibernian in the league in Edinburgh, as Celtic haven’t done it since 2014.

Probably not. However, if Celtic’s male side can win 6-2 in Edinburgh this afternoon, then what a result that would be for the side.

In other news, Neil Lennon has remained coy about his goalkeeping selection.
