Celtic youngster Conor Hazard’s form is clearly impressing with Dundee in the Championship.
The Northern Ireland international was signed by Dundee on an emergency loan deal with Jack Hamilton needing surgery. Since then, he’s been impressive in his four appearances for the Dee.
His latest performance was in the 2-0 defeat to Dundee United at Dens Park. That’s been the only defeat he’s suffered in any of his four games – the rest all ending victorious.
Dundee manager McPake has clearly been impressed with his displays since arrived last month. Speaking to the Evening Telegraph, the Dundee boss was happy to praise his loan stopper.
“He’s been good ever since he came in. He’s a young goalkeeper but he’s got experience of this league and also international experience. We were never worried with that and he made a great save at 2-0 in the derby.
“Conor’s deal is a seven-day thing we need to extend every seven days, that’s just the rules of it. We’ll extend it this week and then again because Jack’s not going to be ready for Inverness.
“We’ve no issue with Conor and he’s been really good. He’s come in and integrated really well with the squad, which is great. Let’s take the United game away and he’s been involved in three very good performances.”
Celtic must find Hazard another move when he returns
It’s difficult to know when to expect Hazard to return. Considering Hamilton is still sidelined, Dundee are clearly happy with his performances enough to keep him on.
January is coming up, and it would be ideal for Celtic to secure Hazard a loan move until the end of the season. He’s now had experience with Dundee, Falkirk, and Partick Thistle in the Championship in recent times.
Next up, it would be great if the Hoops could find him something in the Premiership. That seems like the next step for him. However, if that’s not possible, it’s just imperative that Celtic keep him in senior action.
Hazard is one of three impressive up-and-coming Celtic shot-stoppers. Ross Doohan is currently on loan with Ayr United, whilst Ryan Mullen is currently still at the club.
With the reserve side currently no longer in the Reserve League, it’s imperative we get as many of our youngsters out on loan as possible. Hazard’s form is proof of why this is key for their development.
It remains to be seen what happens with the emergency-loan star. But for now, he’s certainly making the right impression on Tayside.
