Celtic’s Ryan Christie aims to take the positives from Scotland’s 4-0 loss to Belgium. Scotland were roundly beaten in the game, but Christie did get to witness a masterclass from Belgium and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne was the star man for Belgium, and Christie wants to watch a repeat of the player’s performance to try to take some elements to add to his game.

“It’s nice for me to play against him because he plays in a similar position to me” he said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

“That’s something you have to aspire to and try to be as good as these guys. I’ll go back and look at the video of the game and look at what De Bruyne did. It will be painful, but I will also focus more on my own performance.”

A new dawn beckons for Celtic in Europe, as Joe Hart shows his class once again

Christie’s idea can only help his game in the long run. If he can take some of De Bruyne’s game and add it to his own, it will make Christie an even better player.

Hopefully he gets the Scotland defeat to Belgium out of his system sooner rather than later. He was one of Scotland’s few good performers on the night, and he can hold his head up unlike some other performers in the team.

Christie will be next in action for the Hoops against Hamilton on Saturday. It will be intriguing to see if an of De Bruyne’s performance has rubbed off on him by then.
