Celtic were just one of just two away winners as Champions League qualification got underway on Tuesday.

The Hoops’ impressive 3-1 victory over Bosnian champions Sarajevo was one of the better results of the night. North Macedonian outfit Shkendija were the other away victors and they will be Neil Lennon’s future opponents if they and the Hoops can finish the job off at home.

Shkendija got a 1-0 win over Estonian’s Kalju Nomme with an 81st minute penalty doing the business there.

Other Champions League results

Elsewhere, there was a tricky start for one of the sides to make last year’s group stage. Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade found it tough away to Suduva – drawing a blank in a 0-0 draw. Celtic know themselves that Lithuania can be a tough trip following a 1-1 draw there in the Europa League last season.

Astana got a good 1-0 home win against the tricky Romanians CFR Cluj while Swedish champions AIK surprisingly lost to Ararat-Armenia.

HJK Helsinki look as good as through after a 3-0 win over Torshavn while Valletta got a credible 2-2 draw away to Dudelange.

Finally, Welsh side TNS have a tough task on their hands next week after a 2-2 home draw against the Kosovans KF Feronikeli.
