Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has admitted that it would not be a surprise to him if Scott Sinclair departed the Hoops in the summer.
Sutton made the revelation in his column in the Daily Record, whilst comparing the impact Sinclair has had compared to fellow winger James Forrest.
“James Forrest is outstanding on the right-hand side but Scott Sinclair is struggling to have an influence and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him leaving in the summer” he said.
Contract expires sooner rather than later
Sinclair’s future does seem to be uncertain at the club. For a start, his contract expires at the end of next season.
Therefore, the Hoops need to get him on a new deal this summer. Or they must consider selling him, so they don’t lose him for nothing next summer.
Neil Lennon did confirm recently that talks are taking place about extending his deal.
Left out of starting line-up recently
But intriguingly, Sinclair has been left out of the starting line-up in Celtic’s last two games. He did play the second-half against Rangers at least, but didn’t feature at all against St Mirren.
Should Sinclair leave Celtic in the summer it would be a blow for the Hoops. He is still capable of scoring plenty of goals. He has 17 this season.
It is a bit concerning though that he has been left out of the side in such a high-profile game recently.
Only time will tell but Sutton could well be right in his prediction.
