Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has revealed that he has not yet given up hope of winning back his place in the Hoops first team.
The former number one lost his place in the side to Scott Bain. But he feels that he can win his place back in the first team.
Regarding Bain, Gordon told the Scottish Sun he had no issue with the player being the new number one at Celtic.
“He deserved his chance to go in there” he said.
But he then outlined a scenario which would see him regain his place in the side.
“But I’m hopeful I might get back there yet. There are a few injuries at the moment.
“Hopefully I can get back in and challenge him at Celtic and for the international spot as well.”
Good display of honesty
Gordon’s honesty is good to see. It is a rare trait in a footballer, but he is correct to admit that Bain deserves to be the man with the gloves at Celtic Park.
Gordon’s future is unlikely to be decided until the summer. Celtic will need to sort out their managerial situation before they sort out the future of the players at the club.
From now until then, Gordon will just have to sit on the bench and hope that the chance for first team football arises once more.
At least his attitude is good.
