Celtic provided supporters with a welcome boost today in a new social media video.
The Hoops published a training clip on YouTube. The video showed that both Dedryck Boyata and Tom Rogic were part of first-team training.
This immediately allows us to believe that both are ready to go against Rangers on Sunday.
Rogic didn’t participate in last Friday’s bounce game against Morton. Question marks remain over his fitness levels, but given the video was just a short minute, it could be that Celtic are trying to tell us something here.
Boyata, meanwhile, dropped out of the Belgium squad last week. He seemed to pick up a knock on international duty, with no explanation given for the injury.
He clearly, however, looks set to take part on Sunday given the intensity he was showing in training.
No KT in the video
One notable absentee from the video, however, was Kieran Tierney. We’ve all been made to speculate regarding his level of fitness ahead of Sunday.
The left-back, of course, missed both of Scotland’s opening Euro 2020 qualifiers. But his absence from the video will only raise further questions ahead of the match.
Neil Lennon will take to his presser at the end of the week and will likely provide an injury update. But this pretty much was one. There wasn’t much else in the video worth seeing. There were no tricks, fancy footwork, or stunning goals. It felt like a video made for the purpose of teasing both Boyata and Rogic’s return on Sunday.
What it does do is provide Celtic with a big shot in the arm. Both men have a history of performing well against Rangers, particularly at Parkhead. Rogic’s return would also solve the problem of the number 10 position.
We still won’t know anything for certain unless it comes out of Lennon’s mouth. He’ll know our injury situation more than anyone, but it’s fair to believe that both men are fit ahead of the weekend.
