The plaudits have been coming thick and fast after Celtic’s impressive first-half display against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

In a devastating twenty-minute spell, the team were absolutely relentless as they raced to a 4-0 lead that left the Killie players looking shell-shocked.

Kilmarnock striker, Kyle Vassell was completely blown away by the Celtic performance and compared the team to the top sides in the English Premier League.

Speaking to The Glasgow Times, Vassell said: “When I played Premier League teams in the cup. Genuinely, the top teams.

“[Callum] McGregor is so good. He is so good at football. He runs you away to make space for other players and you have Taylor coming in the pitch.

“The way they are organised, and they are so disciplined, they just keep the ball. My comparison would be a Premier League team.”

Vassell also went on to say that his team simply had no answers to Celtic’s first-half blitz, “We kind of didn’t know what to do at times, and it took us a little too long to regroup.

“It shouldn’t be four goals before we get ourselves together, but once we did that I thought we looked much better.” [BBC]

During his time in England, Vassell has faced the likes of Manchester City and Everton in the FA Cup.

With Celtic set to break long-standing club goalscoring and points records as well as being in the hunt for their fifth treble in seven years, the standards they have set are second to none.

League business resumes this Saturday against Motherwell.

The Lanarkshire side are seven points adrift of the top six and with only one game left to go before the split, Stuart Kettlewell’s side also have a chance of being relegated.

The 3pm kick-off at Celtic Park will take Ange Postecoglou one step closer to retaining the title should we collect all three points.
