Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has defiantly stated he refuses to see his side stand still as he targets further improvements after the break.

The 57-year-old has watched his team enjoy a brilliant start to the season on the domestic front, winning 16 of their 17 games so far.

Other than a defeat to St Mirren, the Bhoys have produced a near-perfect start in the Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports cup.

Despite that fact, there have been some small faults in the Hoops’ performances, and Postecoglou was left frustrated with the UEFA Champions League group stage campaign.

As Celtic supporters are well aware by now, the former Socceroos boss holds high standards amongst his squad and will have been looking for even more.

The perfect example of those high standards came last week when Postecoglou refused to make any excuses and criticised his squad after suffering a friendly defeat to Sydney FC.

Whilst the majority of the Celtic squad are currently enjoying a break-off during the Qatar World Cup, Ange Postecoglou is still thinking about how his team can improve on their return.

The Celtic manager delivered a defiant message when speaking to the media, as he insisted that he refuses to see his squad stands still and he is targeting more improvements in the second half of the campaign.

He said [Daily Record]: “We’ll definitely be stronger. I’ve said this was the difficult period for us we’ve just been through. No doubt we’ll be stronger – we’ll need to be stronger.

“We can’t stand still, no matter if people are saying we’ve had a great start. I refuse to stand still. Whatever the watermark has been, we aim to raise it when we get back. It has to be the way. I think that’s what the club has always strived to be.

“I get the sense sometimes you get distracted by other things, but the goal for us should be to always be stronger every year and bridging the gaps with the ones we want to compete with. You have to do that in all areas.”

Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side set to return a different animal after winter World Cup break.

With the World Cup taking place in November and December, it has been an extremely busy start to the 2022/23 season for Ange Postecoglou and his squad.

The Bhoys’ opening games have been crammed in, with this year’s fixture schedule being slightly different due to the prestigious tournament taking place in the winter.

So, a break off across the next few weeks will allow the Celtic squad to rest and recuperate ahead of the domestic action returning on December 17th.

Next month, the Hoops have a trip planned to head to Portugal for a warm-weather training camp, which should provide Postecoglou and his coaching staff a rare opportunity to work with the players.

The January transfer window is also just around the corner. So, shortly after the domestic action gets underway, the club will be able to add to the squad.

With the fixture schedule in the second half of the season being more spaced out, it is all set up for Ange Postecoglou’s side to come back a whole different animal.

The Hoops Scottish rivals should be left fearing the Celtic manager’s latest statement, with the promise that the Bhoys won’t be standing still and will continue to improve in the coming months.
