James McFadden makes nine-in-a-row Celtic statement

James McFadden reckons that Celtic have as good as sealed a ninth successive title – if his recent comments are anything to go by.

Neil Lennon’s men opened up a 12 point lead at the top of the Premiership with victory over Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Rangers may still have a game in hand, but it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll be toasting another championship success very soon.

And BBC pundit McFadden reckons the game is done for the Ibrox side, as he took fire at Steven Gerrard.

“The huge pressure is to stop Celtic doing nine in a row,” the former Scotland ace said on Tuesday’s BBC Sportsound.

“Now that isn’t going to happen. Is he going to stop ten?”

“Rangers can’t compete with the quality that Celtic have. The worry is just how many points behind Celtic Rangers are going to finish now?

“The players drop form and they can’t change it. If Celtic’s players drop form Neil Lennon can change it.

“If Christie isn’t doing it, he can bring Ntcham in. If Ntcham isn’t doing it, bring in Rogic.

“A lot of fans will say they are better anyway.

“You just need to look at the depth of the squad Rangers have to see that it was unrealistic.”

McFadden is right to point out Celtic depth

McFadden is saying what a lot of Celtic fans have been for virtually all of this season.

Despite the talk of title fights going down to the wire, it was always clear to see that we had a much stronger squad that would last the distance of a lengthy season.

We play at a different level to Rangers. That hasn’t always been shown this season, especially in derby matches, but recent weeks have gone to prove it.

The fact a player like Rogic, arguably our star man two years ago, can barely get near the team shows just how strong we are.

This Celtic team are absolutely motoring at present. And you just love to see it.
