Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has hailed teammate Kristoffer Ajer after the Hoops’ superb 5-2 victory against Motherwell on Saturday, The Scottish Sun report.

The defender was in magnificent form on the right flank.

With excellent drive up and down the pitch, he also found himself on the scoresheet when he equalised almost immediately after the Steelmen’s opener.

Griffiths reckons the ‘sky is the limit’ for the Norwegian international, also comparing him favourably to Virgil van Dijk.

He revealed another side to Ajer as well though.

Griffiths reckons that the 21-year-old is fast becoming a big character in the dressing room.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the 28-year-old said: “When he first arrived he wasn’t as chirpy as he is now.

“He’s got a bit of banter about him. He looks the part and gives as good as he gets. People tell him to wind his neck in because he’s got such a long neck but he takes it well.”

That emerging personality is easily seen on the pitch too. Ajer is beginning to show leadership and charisma in his play, as well as his obvious ability on and off the ball.

Those characteristics will see him become an even bigger part of this Celtic side over the next season.

Lennon is clearly already a fan, playing the prospect in almost every match since arriving in February.

As he continues to back the belief from the manager up with big performances, he will gain even more respect from his peers.

The sky is indeed the limit. Hopefully he reaches that potential in green and white hoops.
