Youngster Leo Mazis has left Celtic two years after joining the club, signing for Italian Serie C side Triestina on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old has penned a deal until 2021 at his new side, who hold an option for a further two years.
Mazis signed for the Hoops in February 2018 after impressing on a trial, giving him a chance at a career in European football after making the move from his homeland in Australia.
However, he hasn’t regularly featured for the club’s development and reserves side this season and has been nowhere near Neil Lennon’s first-team either.
Despite that, he appears to have enjoyed his time at the club, posting a friendly message on his Instagram profile earlier tonight that said: “Firstly I would like to say thanks to everyone at Celtic FC for the support these last two years, it’s been a pleasure. But I am excited and ready for the next chapter at Triestina! Let’s get to work.”
Celtic winger Mikey Johnston was amongst the well-wishers in the attacking midfielder’s comments, with dozens of fans replying and the post generating hundreds of ‘likes’.
He seems hopeful about his career step so it would be smashing to see it all work out for him in Italy.
Triestina are currently sitting in ninth position in the country’s third tier table, so there could be an opportunity to get some regular first-team action under his belt and help them push up the league.
Good luck Leo!
