Midtjylland have confirmed their matchday squad to face Celtic this evening, with two top players still missing out.

The Dans have suffered some key losses in recent times. Midfield talent Frank Onyeka joined Brentford last week, whilst top striker Sory Kaba has fallen out with the club’s management [Ekstra Bladet].

And Midtjylland have confirmed that, despite him making their official UEFA squad for the tie against Celtic, Kaba will again not be involved tonight. He’s now yet to play a single one of their four competitive games this season.

As well as that, midfielder Jens Cajuste is also again missing from the squad. This comes as plenty of transfer rumours surround the player’s future. Newcastle are said to be interested in taking the £13m-rated midfielder to England [Northern Echo].

And thirdly, influential attacker Gustav Isaksen is still sidelined with an injury picked up on matchday one of the Danish Superliga campaign.

Midtjylland squad represents no surprises for Celtic

Midtjylland will come into this one weaker than last week. That’s because winger Anders Dreyer is suspended for his red card at Parkhead last week.

There are no nasty shocks for Celtic here. Kaba hasn’t regained the trust of the management whilst Isaksen hasn’t managed to recover. There’s no need to expect a better Midtjylland than what we came up against eight days ago.

There’s a massive opportunity for the Hoops to bring some positivity back to the football club. So far this summer, the mood has either been negative or sheer pessimistic. Beating Midtjylland would go a long way to ending those concerns.

That doesn’t mean that tonight will be easy of course. We aren’t naive enough to think that’s the case. The likes of Sisto and Evander caught the eye last week and they’ll be in more comfortable surroundings tonight.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t have the better squad. Celtic showed last week they have the talent in their ranks to down Midtjylland.

Let’s see if we can prove it later tonight.
