Neil Lennon had some good injury news for Celtic fans recently.
He revealed to the Scottish Sun that Tom Rogic could be back in time for the Glasgow derby against Rangers on the 31st of March.
That would be a huge boost for the Hoops, as Rogic has been sorely missed. However, it would be too much of a risk to rush the player straight into a likely title decider.
Need to be careful
The Hoops need to be careful with Rogic’s recovery. He has been out of action for two months with knee problems.
He needs some games for the reserve team to get up to speed, then he can be brought back into the first-team.
There’s no doubt that having Rogic back for the Glasgow derby would be game changer. He has a great record against Rangers.
Need Rogic for the run-in
But that doesn’t mean he should play against Rangers at the end of the month. It is far more important having him back in the team for the run-in to the end of the season.
If Rogic ended up re injuring his knee by rushing back into the side, it would be a considerable blow for the Hoops.
It is better to be cautious, especially with players just returning from long-term injuries. Rogic should be treated with kid gloves, and a place in the team to face Rangers will come too soon for him.
