Youssouf Mulumbu has made some interesting comments about his future at Celtic Park.
The midfielder believes he can still play a part for the Hoops next season. This is despite the player joining Kilmarnock on loan in January.
“In my head, it’s not over for me at Celtic. If you speak with Brendan Rodgers and the lads, they know I want to go back and do great things for them” Mulumbu told The Scottish Sun.
The likes of Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor have limited his game time. When you consider that Mulumbu couldn’t make the breakthrough when Scott Brown was out injured, his time at the club was never going to be that successful.
Mulumbu’s contract still has another year left to run at Celtic, so there is a good chance he will return to the club at the end of the season.
It is highly unlikely he has a future at Celtic though. In fact, it wouldn’t be much of a shock if he returned to Kilmarnock on a permanent basis next season.
That would be the best arrangement for both the player and the club. It would get a player off Celtic’s wage bill and Mulumbu can play first team football on a regular basis once again.
