Neil Lennon has admitted that he has spoken to his Celtic squad about their hunger and desire ahead of the first league game of the season.
The Hoops go into the new season as firm favourites to win their ninth league title in a row. However, Lennon isn’t taking anything for granted, and has indicated that his squad of players feel the same way.
“Speaking to the players this morning, I asked them – have they got the hunger to go again?” Lennon said, in an interview with Sky Sports Scotland Twitter.
“A real hunger and desire”
“I think there is a real hunger and desire there to maintain the standards they have set over the last eight years, particularly as championship holders.”

Lennon seems to be pleased with the response that he received from his squad. They still seem very motivated despite winning it all in Scotland over the last three seasons.
Players have chance to match Hoops legends
However, it is no surprise that the players will be motivated and hungry ahead of the new season. They have the chance to win nine titles in a row. That would match the record set by Celtic in the 1970s.
The Hoops face some big games in the weeks to come. The Champions League clash against Cluj comes to mind immediately.
However, for now all at Celtic seem to be focused on starting the league campaign with a win against St Johnstone. The players certainly seem to be focused only on that.
