With Celtic set to return to league action against Hibernian on Saturday, we found out something interesting about one of Celtic’s best players and his record against the Easter Road side.
That player is the in-form Odsonne Eduard. Edouard scored twice for the French under-21 side against Switzerland on Tuesday night, and you have to imagine that he will be well up for the trip to Easter Road. One reason for that is his assist record against them.
More assists than against any other side
Edouard has scored four goals against Hibernian in his time at Celtic. Perhaps more impressive though is his number of assists against them – four. That is more assists than he has against any other team in his time at Celtic.
That record is over nine games, and will no doubt be a factor in Neil Lennon’s mind when it comes to selecting his team for the game on Saturday. Edouard has been in and out of the Celtic team recently.
However, that assist record is impressive. It should have Hibernian running scared of what the player can do if unleashed at Easter Road.
He could have the Hibernian defence all over the place if he is on song. Not only with his ability to score goals, but his ability to create goals, as the Easter Road side know only too well.
Return to form at just the right time
It is good to see that Edouard seems to be back in-form for the French under21s.
That form needs to be replicated for Celtic though, and so far this season it has been an up and down campaign for the 22-year-old striker.
Easter Road would be the right time for Edouard to burst into life though. If he can add to his excellent assist record against the Edinburgh side then Celtic could be well on the way to getting a much needed three points in the battle for 10 in a row.
