Read MoreOliver Burke gets hounded by some Celtic fans after Rangers display
Oliver Burke’s outing at Ibrox today certainly didn’t go the way many would’ve liked.
The Scotland international was given a rare start by interim manager Neil Lennon this afternoon. The Northern Irish boss confirmed pre-match that James Forrest was out injured. Therefore, it all fell nicely into place for Burke.
But the former RB Leipzig right-winger put in a horrendous display on the day. It was summed up just minutes from full-time when he managed to miss an almost open goal after good work from Odsonne Edouard.

And despite it only being his first start since April 3rd’s 2-0 win at St Mirren, Burke failed to impress. And this was proven by the reaction of sections of the Celtic support on social media. Here, we take a look at some samples of their anger.

Oliver Burke some athlete. Can't help but think it would be more financially sensible for Celtic to just bring in Usain Bolt on a free though 🤔

Don’t even have to say better team won today, not at the races at all but Oliver Burke needs to stop thinking he is better than he is. Lazy, Disinterested and quite simply not good enough. We move on. #8inarow #TrebleTreble

I never, ever want to see Oliver Burke in a Celtic shirt again. Right now, I don’t even want him at the trophy lift next week.

Oliver Burke starting today was just one of many many questionable decisions by Neil Lennon.
Bizarre performance.

Worse players out there than Burke today
Burke is by no means a terrific footballer. In fact, he was one of the underperformers on the day. But there were also worse out there than him.
Odsonne Edouard’s hold-up play was awful throughout, whilst Tom Rogic was seriously lacking in any form of attacking threat.
Burke will mainly take the flak for that shocking miss near the end. Edouard’s brilliant run down the left and set-up could’ve led to an unlikely route back into the game. But if we’re being serious, it was hardly the reason we lost the contest at Ibrox.

Callum McGregor and Scott Brown being overrun in the midfield done us in. That combined with the ineffective Rogic meant that we offered zero threat through the centre.
It’s pretty clear that £15million-rated Burke likely won’t be back at Parkhead. He hasn’t kicked on from his promising start to life in Glasgow.
Today just adds to the heat he’s been picking up since dropping out of the side. He won’t go home tonight proud of his performance, and he certainly won’t feel that he took his chance.
But at the end of the day, there are others who should be even more concerned with their level of performance.
