One media man is already in full on rage at Celtic mode ahead of derby

Former Rangers striker Mark Hateley reckons Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard should be banned for the upcoming derby at Ibrox.

Edouard has been accused of dishing out a red-card-worthy tackle on Dundee United star Peter Pawlett during yesterday’s superb 3-0 win at Celtic Park.

The incident was so much of a non-event that Sportscene didn’t even take a look on last night’s highlights programme.

That hasn’t stopped Ibrox supporters losing the plot on social media today, as we discussed earlier.

Now Hateley is making a show of himself in the media, telling The Daily Record: “It’s a lunge, it’s an out-of-control tackle, it’s over the top of the ball and there’s contact.

“Willie Collum is standing about 10 feet away looking straight at it.

“It’s a dangerous challenge and it’s a red card offence. So, he should be out of the Old Firm game. And he would be a huge miss for them in what is such an important game. He’s got that X-factor that any team would like to have.”

Celtic forward strikes fear in Rangers

Talk about over-egging the pudding eh? Hateley has gone off the deep end here without much justification.

Edouard is going for a 50-50 tackle and even appears to make contact with the ball. It’s hardly dangerous.

It was barely a point of contention before then social media botherers got a hold of out-of-context still images.

The Frenchman strikers fear into the hearts of Rangers, clearly.

He does like a goal against them after all. It would suit them perfectly to miss the upcoming derby.

Sadly for Rangers, he’ll be one of the first names on the teamsheet. Let’s hope his contribution sends Hateley and company into further despair.
