Former Celtic goalkeeper Rab Douglas has hailed current Hoops goalkeeper for his unlikely career turnaround.
Bain has gone from not playing for Dundee after a falling out with then manager Neil McCann to becoming Celtic’s number one goalkeeper in just over a year.
Now Douglas, who won numerous league titles at Celtic, has paid tribute to the player.
Pays tribute to player
“It doesn’t seem that long ago he was in the freezer at Dundee which just shows you what can happen in football” he told The Courier.
“He has proved a few people wrong with a lot of cleans sheets for Celtic so good luck to him.”
Bain also seems set to be named as Scotland’s new number one goalkeeper following the retirement of Allan McGregor.
Bain has performed heroically for the Hoops. However, he will know that if he makes any mistakes Craig Gordon will be waiting in the wings to take his place in the Hoops side.
For now though, Bain looks set to be Hoops number one for the foreseeable future. Credit for that has to go to Bain’s resilience.
He could have wilted after his career stalled at Dundee. But he has fought back in style. Now Celtic look to have a player who could be their number one goalkeeper for many years to come.
