Spanish international forward Rodrigo has been left at home by Valencia as they limped to Glasgow for their Europa League tie against Celtic, according to reports in Spain.

Valencia have also travelled without Jose Gaya and Gabriel Paulista. Along with Rodrigo, they will miss the first leg against the Scottish champions.

Hotshot Rodrigo has had a quiet season in front of goal for his standards.

The striker, who went to the World Cup with Spain, has only scored seven goals in 32 games this season.

Superdeporte are reporting that he trained with the squad but complained of a foot injury. Gaya and Paulista are also left at home, rested ahead of league duty on Sunday.

Valencia are heading into Thursday’s first leg on the back of numerous pull outs. Santi Mina, one of their better performers this season, will miss out.

Although the Spanish side are littered with quality throughout their squad, those left at home will be a huge loss to the team.

Go right at them, Celtic

Celtic’s task on Thursday could not be clearer. They must attack Valencia from the off with courage and conviction.

Celtic must test their opponent’s resolve from the first whistle. There’s only one way to find out how damaged they are by their absences.

Despite their injuries, Valencia are a quality side who must be respected.

However, Brendan Rodgers will send his players out to be courageous.

Backed on by a ferocious Celtic Park crowd, the Bhoys are in with a shout.
