Scott Brown has condemned the state of Celtic’s pitch. Especially when you compare it to the surface Celtic played on against Valencia in the Europa League.
Brown claims that the state of the pitch in the Mestalla helped the Hoops. Whilst the opposite was true in the first leg of the tie at Celtic Park.
“Differences of the pitches”
“The first performance back at Celtic Park wasn’t good enough but then again you look at the difference of the pitches” he told the Daily Record.
“Their pitch was incredible, and we knocked the ball about really well. Celtic Park is not so good just now.”
Ironically enough, despite Brown’s complaints about the pitch Celtic currently have a 100% record at home in the Scottish Premiership.
Despite that incredible statistic, something will have to be done in the summer about the state of the pitch at Celtic Park.
Club hierarchy won’t be happy
If the club captain is coming out and criticising the surface, you can bet that there is something wrong with it. The club hierarchy won’t be happy about it either. It will be interesting to see if Peter Lawwell or Brendan Rodgers comment about it.
In the meantime, the Hoops will just have to get on with playing on the surface for the rest of the season. Beginning with Sunday’s clash against Motherwell. Hopefully the surface won’t derail the Hoops in their bid to make it eight titles in a row.
