Some Celtic supporters are not happy with Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes after he insinuated that Kristoffer Ajer playacted in an attempt to get Sam Cosgrove sent off on Saturday.
The Dons striker was shown red by referee Euan Robertson after flying into a tackle on the Celtic defender with little control and excessive force.
However, after the match, McInnes was less than impressed with the decision, suggesting that the actions of Hoops players influenced the official’s decision.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said: “He probably doesn’t need to go in as quick but he gets it cleanly. Big Ajer was laughing and winking at him lying on the ground. There was nothing wrong with the boy, he carried on. I didn’t see anything wrong with him running about.
“If Sam hits Ajer at that speed, Ajer’s hurt. And he’s clearly not hurt. It’s a brilliant tackle. Did the reaction of Celtic’s players influence the ref’s decision? Who knows? You can make your own mind.”

The comments come across as a bit unprofessional from McInnes. It’s one thing to disagree with the sending off and it’s another to suggest that Celtic were deliberately out to manipulate the referee.

There was hardly any time between the tackle and the sending off either, suggesting Robertson knew exactly the decision he wanted to make.
These fans were not impressed with McInnes’ comments, taking to Twitter over the last 24 hours to share their thoughts on it all…
That’s embarrassing from McInnes. I can only imagine he hasn’t seen a replay before the interview.

Both Derek McInnes and Sam Cosgrove letting their club down here. Looking forward to seeing the same commitment next time they play The Rangers 👍🍀💚 https://t.co/XKGJcmPJN4

If he said the red card was harsh and left it at that then fair enough, I’ve not seen the incident back since I was at the game & at the time thought it was a red all day. To go on and insinuate that Ajer is a cheat just stinks of bitterness

Ah Derek, when you go to play a ball back to a player then jink out the road & mouth off to the player just to waste time, you can’t complain about anyone. Your tactics are to win free kicks, & that’s it. Away & 😢 when you actually deserve a point.
