Some Celtic fans strongly disagree with BBC Scotland pundit Gary Caldwell after he delivered a verdict on Neil Lennon’s team and Rangers on Monday’s edition of Sportsound.

The former Hoops defender was on the panel to discuss the ongoing title race between Lennon’s outfit and Steven Gerrard’s side.

He came to the strange conclusion that although it’s likely that Celtic will win the league, the Ibrox side are actually better man to man than the reigning champions.

Speaking on Sportsound (17/02), he said: “I think 1-11 Rangers are as good, or possibly even better than Celtic.

“They’ve proved the last two games because the cup final they outplayed them but couldn’t get it done and in the league game they outplayed them and won the game at Celtic Park.

“I could actually see them, if they’ve got a fully fit squad, both Old Firm games, I could see them winning them.”

For obvious reasons, that’s gone down like a tonne of bricks with Celtic supporters, who feel that it’s a ridiculous assertion to say that Rangers are currently better than the Hoops in any context.

In the three matches between the two sides this season, Lennon’s team have come out on top twice, including lifting a League Cup at their expense.

They may have been close games but it’s Celtic winning the battle so far this season and betting against us turning up for the two remaining matches is folly.

Fans set their sights on the BBC Sportsound Twitter to offer their own views on the situation, with some calling for the broadcaster to bring Michael Stewart back to the airwaves…
