Celtic’s Jeremie Frimpong has enjoyed a meteoric rise at the club since making his debut against Partick Thistle in the Betfred Cup in September.
The right-back, who turned 19 today, has established himself in the Hoops first-team, and was part of the starting line-up in the recent 1-0 Betfred Cup Final win over Rangers.
Firm favourite with the support
He may have been sent-off in that game, but he was undeniably one of Celtic’s best performers on the day. He has become a firm favourite with the Celtic support since breaking into the team, as his infectious attitude has rubbed off on the fans.
Celtic sent the player a happy birthday message on Twitter, and many Hoops fans have replied.
🎂 Oh my days… it’s Jeremie Frimpong’s birthday! 😁

One fan wants the club to never let the player leave Celtic, whilst another tipped him to be Scotland’s young player of the year at the end of the season.
Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Celtic’s Tweet to Frimpong:

It has no doubt an emotional week for Frimpong, playing in his first Glasgow derby and first cup final. When you add in the fact he was sent-off, it is probably for the best that he will not feature for the Hoops against Cluj on Thursday.
Might well be back in team for next league game
He could do with a brief break after the derby. However, you would expect Frimpong to be back in the team against Hibs on Sunday.
It was impressive how Frimpong was not overawed by the derby. He was one of Celtic’s better players on the day until he was sent-off. That bodes well not only for the rest of this season, but his future at the club.
For now, he should be first-choice right-back for the club. He has more than earned that with some excellent performances this season, and it is no wonder that he is so popular with the Celtic support.
