Celtic have escaped from Pittodrie with a 2-1 result and all three points after a difficult afternoon against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

Neil Lennon’s team had to dig deep and show real spirit to pick up the victory, not playing their best in a physical and windy encounter.

The Scottish champions took the lead in the match thanks to Callum McGregor, with the midfielder also playing a driving role in the team’s second of the afternoon that was eventually netted by Kristoffer Ajer.

Those goals sandwiched an Ash Taylor effort that threatened to see us drop points for the first time since December.

Ultimately it’s all smiles leaving the north east, extending our lead at the top of the table to 13 points ahead of Rangers’ hastily rescheduled match at home to Livingston this afternoon.

Celtic were far from their best today and nobody really stood out as a stellar performer but it was the display of McGregor that caught the eye of some supporters, feeling that he helped dig us out of a fixture that easily could have ended badly.

It’s a huge three points and demonstrates if nothing else that Lennon’s team will find a way to win on most days, even when the performance leaves a lot to be desired.
